Project News | Women Building Futures Ad and Web Site

When Women Building Futures asked us to come up with a simple but 'edgy' Fringe ad, it was hard to control ourselves. There were just so many headline potentials. In the end, "You supply the estrogen, we supply the tools" was picked as the winner. Not bad. You can see the ad in our portfolio under 'Print Ads'. We are also getting ready to launch the new Women Building Futures content managed web site.

We recently created a new logo for a environmentally friendly ink cartridge refill and disposal company Greenway Ink. The logo combined the letter 'G' with the recycle arrow - for a clean, unique and easy to reproduce corprorate identity. We were sad to say goodbye to Lewis Siong - a print designer that had been with our company for a year. Lewis decided that Toronto was calling (yes, we told him to take more medication; the voices would stop). But when a door closes, a window opens...in England! Lewis's position will be filled August 20 by Deep Rehal - a graphic designer fresh from London, England - or somewhere in Britain. Make sure you tell Deep about our short Alberta winters and our city's retractable glass dome, like we told her in the interviews.

Hök Nik recently completed the 2007 Annual Report for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, in both official languages. CPSI performs a coordinating and leadership role across health sectors and systems, promoting leading practices with stakeholders, patients and the general public about patient safety. We recently completed a 7 minute video on DVD that was used to tell the story of Edmonton's EL Smith Water Treatment Plant upgrade. The video will be used to showcase the plant's new features and explain the challenges faced during project construction. With the tainted chili recall expanding, Hök Nik's HR department has been working furiously to retool our company's newly launched 'Canned Chili for Life Employee Rewards Program'. "This really took us by surprise," said Elaine Ho, Hök Nik's employee benefits manager." Look, when you can't bank on the stability of canned chili, you have to wonder if these aren't the End Times. I mean, what's next - a touthpaste recall?"

Long time employee Leanne Holyk (right...no left) is set to wed her beau Colin Hafer on Saturday, August 25 in her home town of Fort Saskatchewan, not far from the Dow Chemical outfall where Colin proposed. (Okay, okay...the proposal was at the Sturgeon River lookout). A lot of people have asked if Rat Man™, our obese office cat, is on sabbatical. Why yes, he is. We had to move him out of the shop during construction. He was making the construction crew a little jumpy so he went to live with a friend. It’s been good for him, and kind of good for us. The only pet left in the studio is the lonely gold fish down in reception.

Yes, our epic renovation continues. While the new server room and downstairs suite are completed, half the upstairs is still full of tools. When it's all done, we will have created:
a galley kitchen
a bigger boardroom/meeting room
private offices for creative staff
and a multimedia multi-purpose room.

Hök Nik recently curtailed 'Casual Fridays' when it was discovered that one of our staff members was sporting what looked to be pair of hairless 75 year old legs under their jeans. "While our firm believes that casual dress improves performance and productivity, we've come to see that long pants serve a very real purpose," said a company spokesman.
